Heritage Railways

There are two preserved former Great Western railways within easy reach of the Cart House Holiday Cottage:

West Somerset Railway

The West Somerset Railway is the longest heritage railway in England and runs for 20 miles from Bishops Lydeard, near Taunton, to Minehead. Take the train through gently rolling Quantock countryside and along the Somerset Coast at Blue Anchor Bay. Stop off at historic Dunster and visit the Yarn Market and Castle, or carry on to the resort of Minehead on the edge of Exmoor.

Bishops Lydeard station is 31 miles from the holiday cottage and it will take about 45 minutes to drive there.

East Somerset Railway

The East Somerset Railway runs for 2 1/2 miles from Cranmore to Mendip Vale near Shepton Mallet. It once formed part of the Cheddar Valley line that ran from Witham to Yatton.
